Statistics show that in the first quarter of this year, the export volume of SG (solar grade ) silicon in Longyan region of Fujian which is exported to European and American market has reached 4.54 billion USD, with an four fold increase over the same period of 2006.
As described , there are 10 silicon metal manufacturers which have invested nearly 100 million yuan(RMB) in the research and production of SG silicon in less than one year.
At present, SG silicon is short of supply both in the domestic market and abroad. Further, European and American market don’t levy high anti-dumping duties on ordinary silicon metal.
